Director's Statement
As a teenager growing up in Mill Valley, Ca., I learned that my father had brain cancer and was given 2-3 years to live. My father owned a toy store and would play Windham Hill records as shoppers picked out their favorite toys for their kids. The quiet, calming quality of Windham Hill music became a way for me to quiet my fears and anxieties about the possibility of losing my father. While interviewing for the film, I learned that this was in keeping with how many Windham Hill listeners experienced the music. This was not background music to be listened to while driving, but rather very personal and intimate music that spoke to turning points, moments of joy and difficult events in people's lives.
